We ensure every project we undertake has a tangible impact on people, place and profit.

Sustainability goes beyond simply protecting the environment; it encompasses a holistic approach to living and creating that honours both nature and human culture. It’s about respecting the natural world while also cherishing the skills, traditions, and stories that connect us to our heritage and communities.

Our commitment to sustainability reflects this broader understanding. We strive to work with natural materials that honour their origins, to celebrate the craft of artisans who bring beauty and purpose to everyday life, to preserve the architectural heritage that tells the stories of our past, and to engage in conservation efforts that protect the natural landscapes we hold dear.

Each of these elements is integral to our mission, and together, they form the foundation of our sustainable approach.

conservation & the environment

Our agency was founded in rural Herefordshire, and is now based in the Surrey hills. We’ve always been at the heart of the British countryside, and we’re endlessly fascinated by the relationship humans have with nature - how it affects us, and how we are affecting it. We support conservation projects through our work with the West Horsley Place Trust, and through partnership with Ecologi. Our suppliers and most of our clients are working to protect and support the environment, with a number of them having already achieved B-Corp status.

working with natural materials

Our approach centres on the use of natural, sustainable materials that get better with age as nature provides us with the most incredible, renewable resources. We work with the innate properties of raw materials to celebrate their character, whilst ensuring the pieces we make with them can be repaired, refinished, repurposed, or recycled at the end of their life. Our projects draw inspiration from their surroundings, referencing local raw materials wherever possible.

celebrating artisan craft

Bring on the age of the artisan. We believe that good design requires skill, thought and care, and those responsible for creating the things we use and surround ourselves with should be celebrated and supported. For that reason, we jump at every opportunity to work with artisans of all kinds - illustrators, artists, ceramicists, weavers, plasterers, film makers, printers, joiners, bakers, chefs, singers - and we make sure everyone is paid fairly for their craft.

preserving heritage

Heritage buildings hold significant historical and cultural value. We believe that restoring old buildings is crucial not only for maintaining architectural heritage, but also for preserving the stories of those that have existed before us. We have worked on a number of listed buildings, and are continuously exploring new and innovative ways to work sensitively with them. By actively participating in the conservation of such buildings and their surrounding estates, we aim to ensure that these treasures can be enjoyed by current and future generations.
